Overview
ZymoGenetics creates novel protein drugs with the potential to significantly help patients fight their diseases. The Company is developing a diverse pipeline of proprietary product candidates that are moving into and through clinical development. These span a wide array of clinical opportunities, including bleeding, autoimmune and viral diseases and cancer. ZymoGenetics intends to commercialize these product candidates through internal development, collaborations with partners and out-licensing of patents from its extensive patent portfolio.

  • Track record of success. ZymoGenetics has been actively involved in the discovery and development of therapeutic protein-based products for more than 25 years. During that time, the Company has contributed to the discovery or development of six recombinant protein products currently marketed by other companies. These products have aggregate annual sales of more than $3 billion.

  • Focused on therapeutic protein-based products. ZymoGenetics is engaged in the discovery and development of novel therapeutic protein-based products for the prevention or treatment of human disease. The Company has an extensive pipeline in various stages of research and development that target a broad range of diseases and conditions.

  • Strong foundation in protein discovery. At the core of ZymoGenetics' discovery engine is the Company's long-standing expertise in biology, protein chemistry and molecular and cellular biology. Recognizing the power of genomics to revolutionize the discovery process, ZymoGenetics combined its core technologies with bioinformatics to establish a portfolio of novel protein product candidates.

  • Leading intellectual property position in potential therapeutic proteins. ZymoGenetics' early focus on therapeutic proteins has enabled the Company to build an extensive patent portfolio, with more than 300 issued or allowed United States patents. In addition, ZymoGenetics has more than 650 issued or allowed foreign patents.

  • Deep pipeline of product candidates. ZymoGenetics has a growing pipeline of potential products that will be developed independently or in collaboration with partners. RECOTHROM™ Thrombin, topical (Recombinant) has been approved by the FDA. In clinical development are three proteins discovered from bioinformatics research efforts. Additionally, ZymoGenetics has established a pipeline of novel protein product candidates that are in various stages of research and development and are potential treatments for a variety of diseases and conditions.

  • Breadth of clinical opportunities. ZymoGenetics' portfolio of therapeutic protein candidates encompasses a broad range of clinical indications. The depth of ZymoGenetics' portfolio allows the Company to develop selected products in-house, while forming strategic partnerships to advance the progress of its other product candidates.

ZymoGenetics is developing product candidates that target several markets, including bleeding, cancer and autoimmune diseases.
  • RECOTHROM™ Thrombin, topical (Recombinant)
    • Approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration on January 17, 2008
    • is a recombinant form of thrombin, an enzyme that stimulates the formation of blood clots, in development as a topical hemostat to control bleeding
    • under a co-promotion agreement with Bayer HealthCare
  • Atacicept
    • is a soluble receptor with potential applications for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as for B-cell malignancies
    • is under joint development between ZymoGenetics and Merck Serono
  • Interleukin 21 (IL-21)
    • is a cytokine that regulates natural killer cells and cytotoxic T-cells with potential applications for the treatment of cancer
    • is licensed to Novo Nordisk A/S for commercialization outside of North America while ZymoGenetics retains commercialization rights within North America
  • PEG-interferon lambda (IL-29)
    • is a cytokine being developed as a potential treatment for patients infected with hepatitis C
