Clinical Trials Overview
for Atacicept
ZymoGenetics
and partner Merck Serono are conducting clinical
trials with atacicept in a number of indications- general systemic
lupus erythematosus (SLE), lupus nephritis, rheumatoid
arthritis (RA), and advanced
B-cell cancers. The companies have completed Phase 1b clinical trials in
those indications, demonstrating safety,
half-life and effects on B-cell function
consistent with preclinical studies.
Atacicept
as a potential treatment for autoimmune
diseases
In 2006, the
companies reported findings from
the SLE
and RA clinical trials and began a Phase 2 trial with atacicept in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. In October 2007, the companies received a Special Protocol Assessment from the FDA for a pivotal study with atacicept in lupus nephritis.
Atacicept
as a potential treatment for B cell cancers
A clinical
study is being conducted
to evaluate the safety and
pharmacokinetics of multiple doses
of atacicept in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. In 2006, the companies reported results from Phase 1b trials in
multiple
myeloma and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.
